"Tunisia has benefited from higher tourism revenues after the Covid-19 period, and the Tunisian economy is expected to grow 1.9 percent in 2024, below the regional average, following Tunisia's serious problems, including inflation," explained IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

Georgieva pointed out that “Tunisia has benefited from the rise in tourism revenues, as it has done a good job in taking advantage of the demand for travel that rose after the Covid-19 period. However, Tunisia is also facing some serious problems, as inflation is very high and is expected to reach 9.8 percent this year. Growth is slower than the average in the region, and we expect it to reach 1.9 percent. “So Tunisia must think about whether it is useful to rely on what the Fund was created to do, which is to strengthen countries.”
